GISDATA Review Fall 2005 / Winter 2006
QuickBird
A Sharp Eye

The QuickBird is one of the first commercial high-resolution satellites and is owned by the DigitalGlobe (formerly Earth Watch) company. Advantages of the QuickBird are the high resolution of its sensors, the large swath width and huge on-board memory capacity. Along with a 0.6 m spatial resolution in panchromatic mode, its sensor has an excellent radiometric resolution (dynamic range) which is an advantage for many remote sensing applications. Ability to store almost 60 scenes allows great liberty in activity programming and quick response times to urgent requests.
