FORMOSAT-2
The Frequent Re-visitor

FORMOSAT-2 satellite

The FORMOSAT-2 is another successful satellite of the Taiwanese space program. FORMOSAT has unrivalled temporal resolution and over-flies the same spot twice a day. The first time at 9:30 am to use the benefits of both sun light and shadows and for a second time at 9:30 pm. NSPO decided to utilise the slightly earlier passage (most satellites overpass at 10:30 am local) to avoid daily convective cloud development. During the night passage FORMOSAT uses its sensors to investigate an interesting phenomenon - upper atmospheric lightning.
