GIS for Water Utilities
Macedonian MEAP Improving Water Distribution

GIS team from JKP Proleter-Resen

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the EBRD), as well as several individual donors (Switzerland, Germany and Portugal), assisted the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in implementing a Municipal Environmental Action Plan (MEAP), which was aimed at improving the water supply and wastewater system of five Water Enterprises in six Municipalities in Macedonia (Veles, Stip, Ohrid, Kumanovo and Strumica).

This assistance to the Government of Macedonia was realized through a Program Coordination Unit (PCU) established within the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as through Program Implementation Units (PIUs) established within the Water Enterprises. GISDATA Skopje, as an international distributor and authorized representative of ESRI, the world leader in GIS technology, was in charge of implementing the software, education and support.
