Forestry involves the management of a broad range of natural resources within a forested area. Much of the current forest management can be improved through the use of current technologies including Remote Sensing, GIS (Geographic Information System) and GPS (Global Positioning System). With GIS, the forest cover maps can be updated on a constant basis and it provides the forest managers more current data than what was previously available. Forestry management has evolved around principles of rudimentary GIS, and map base data has become an integral part for:      planning,      management,      protection,      conservation and      sustainable development of forest resources. GISDATA as the company  with respectable references on similar projects in past was selected to do the conceptual and operative plan for the future inventory of Croatian forests. The inventory concept is based on a measurement of forest areas, measurements of forest's edge terrain, and statistical data of the wood's reserves, buildings and ecological signs.
